Respected Sir,

We are a group of academicians and activists including lawyers, doctors, professors, artists, entrepreneurs, research scholars etc. Some of us had attended the daylong seminar on ‘Redrocity: Communist violence in Kerala. The real intolerance untold so far’. We listened to the speakers, met the victims of communist terror from Kerala, listened to their experiences and were shocked at the state of law and order and cruelty unleashed by communists, especially CPI(M) in Kerala.

In 1957, the first communist government was formed in Kerala and thereafter Communists have remained in power for a very long time. They have threatened, muted and mutilated brutally their opponents. They have used and normalized violence as a means of gaining and retaining political power and silencing all opposition. Kerala has witnessed ferocious, fascist intolerance of Communists. In the past 50 years they have killed more than 267 RSS people and after 2010, 16 RSS workers have been murdered by CPI(M). Many more have been brutally assaulted. Their limbs chopped off, many of them have been reduced to vegetative state. Communism has collapsed in Soviet Union, radically reformed in People’s Republic of China but flourished in Kerala which has now become fertile ground for recruitment of ISIS. These murders in Kerala are not simply  law and order problem but  state sponsored terrorism unleashed upon opponents.

I would like to state the details of certain gruesome and brutal attacks by Communists on innocent people of Kerala.

i. Sadananda Masterji  was born in a Communist family, brought up in Communist ideology but drifted away from Communism because of  its ideological bankruptcy. He came towards RSS. This dissent was intolerable for the Communists in Kerala. On 25 January 1994, in an open Bazar, the Communist goons pounced upon him, cut both his legs and then put mud and cow dung in his legs so that they cannot be operated upon. They committed this crime to teach the people in Kerala what the punishment for dissent can be.

ii. Sujeet – In February 2016 CPI(M) goons entered his house, beat him with rods and pipes, broke his skull and bones, hacked him to death in front of his parents.

iii. Sumesh, the sharirik pramukh of RSS, Thallassery taluka who was attacked by CPM goons. His face was split into two but later stitched together in a major surgery. He lost his palm forever.

iv. Biju was assaulted twice. These heartless communist goons attacked him twice then barged into the hospital and hacked over his unhealed wounds again during treatment. His one leg is paralyzed. His hands partially paralyzed, his fingers are motionless. He cannot work in his life.

Atrocities by Communists on women and Dalits in Kerala:

v. Chitralekha - A Dalit, woman auto driver.

She has been harassed and tortured by the Communist goons in Kerala. She took bank loan to buy an auto rickshaw but CITU( Centre for Indian Trade Union) i.e. the wing of CPI(M) that cannot tolerate a Dalit women auto rickshaw driver. They passed casteist, called her mother and grandmother as prostitutes, assaulted her in front of the customers. They even tried to run an auto rickshaw over her. They stabbed her brother- in- law thinking her to be her husband.  Attacked her husband and 10 year old daughter.  Finally, burnt her auto rickshaw.

Chitralekha sat on a 122 days Dharna outside Kannur collectorate and called off the Dharana only on the intervention of the Chief Minister Oommen Chandy promised to rehabilitate her. She and her husband were forced to flee from their place.

 In Delhi, they talk of child rights but in Kerala when Akhila( 30 years) Anjana(25 years)  protested outside their local CPI(M) office in Kuttimukul  near Thalasser, they are arrested and sent to 14 days judicial custody along with 18 month old daughter. CPI(M) goons barged into their houses, abused and assaulted their family members.

SFI and Colleges:

vi. Dr. N. Sarasu:

She taught in school and college for 23 years, never compromised with the gundaism of leftist teachers.

She never compromised with SFI or leftist teachers. On directions of leftist teachers, SFI students dug up a grave for her on 31st march 2016, the day of her retirement from her government Victoria College, Palakkar. 

vii. Shruti Mol:

Student of second year in RLV arts college, Thrippunithra gave statement as witness against SFI regarding a clash between SFI and ABVP workers a few months ago. SFI started harassing her. She complained to the Principal. SFI activists barged into ladies hostel of her college, painted posters with derogatory and abusive comments about her. Her engagement had taken place but marriage got canceled. She complained to the Principal who win turn shouted at her. This was too much for her to bear. She consumed an overdose of sleeping pills and attempted to commit suicide. A suicide note was left by her naming the  SFI workers who have harassed her.

viii. iOn 1st December 1999 (Kunnur) these communist goons killed master Jaykishan while he was teaching in the class having children of 8 years – 9 years. They assaulted and stabbed him so badly that blood oozed out from his body like a fountain and splashed on the faces of these 45 children. Many of these children face mental trauma till today.

These are only a few incidents of political murders and ideological murders by the Communist goons in Kerala.

EMS Namboodripad said, “The communist’s project in participating in India’s parliamentary institutions was to wreck the constitution from within.”

These tendencies of curbing any dissent were further emboldened with the victory of the Left Front in Kerala Assembly elections in the month of May 2016. Soon after the victory, RSS workers were being constantly attacked in Pinarayi in the home town of the newly elected Chief Minister P. Vijayan. Vulnerable targets like women and children became the worst victims. National Commission of Women has taken cognizance of the matter and has asked the State Government to submit its report on the violence that had occurred.

Hence, it is state sponsored terrorism unleashed primarily on RSS workers and also those people who want to leave the rank and file of the Communist Party and join any other party. Communists in Kerala have shown that any kind of dissent has to be punished by death.

The above mentioned social and political conditions in Kerala clearly violate:

i.  Article 14 which states equality before law and equal protection of law.

ii.  Article 19 which grants right to freedom of speech and expression

iii.  Article 21 grants protection of right and personal liberty. It grants right to live with dignity.

iv.  Article 22 which guarantees protection against arrest and detention.

The above mentioned social and political conditions in Kerala are offences under various provisions of IPC.

Law and order machinery in the state is functioning in an atmosphere dominated by Communist ideology and their politicians. Law and order is a state subject but in Kerala people are facing state sponsored terrorism. Any reasonable person can see that the police machinery is not fair and just in the aforesaid cases wherein FIRs are lodged in the lighter sections, witnesses threatened and ultimately justice denied.

Prayer:

In the abovesaid facts and circumstances, it is most respectfully prayed that:

i. Report be summoned from the Hon’ble Governor of Kerala regarding atrocities by Communists on RSS workers and attack on others who leave the rank and file of Communist organizations.

ii. A Fact Finding Team may also be sent to Kerala to investigate the issue, talk to all stake holder and present its report in a stipulated manner.

iii. Take any other appropriate action to save the life and limb, and families of those who do not support the fascist Communist ideology in Kerala.
